You will have to decide between Auto or Manual controls before you even start a match, and this can be a very important decision that will affect how you play later on in Mario Strikers: Battle League.
Auto Controls
Should you choose Auto controls, then you really only need to focus on the ball itself. Anytime the ball is passed or up for grabs, the game will automatically switch you to the nearest character or the one that has the ball in possession. This will keep you on top of the action at all times.
Manual Controls
